I'd like to make a Ti trowel.

Anyone have some sheet stock for sale? I know MastersCarr has it but it's hardly worth that effort.

Or – Anyone taken up Mike C's gospel and ready to sell theirs?

Here's the one I made.

MYOG SUL Titanium Spoon, Snow Stake, Potty Trowl Mulit-Tool.

Beats me. I seem to remember that I got it from Ayce at Through Hiker. (415)462-1745.

Bill Fornshell might have better information than I.

Hi,

All my Titanium came from Thur-Hiker.com.

About a year or so ago I talked to Ayce and he said his Ti was about gone.

The last time I looked for Ti on his web site it was not listed. You might try a email or call and see if it is all gone or just so low that he took it off the site.

Titanium Joe has a minimum purchase amount for anything in the California warehouse (all the thinnest stock of titanium sheet last time I checked. I forget exactly what the minimum was but $75 comes to mind. A little pricey for a trowel for me anyway and I didn't have a larger project I wanted to stock up for so I've never purchased from them.

Anyone have a source for Ti foil thinner than the .005" titaniumgoat stuff?

Tim,

Not to quibble, but 30 ga is .010

.016 would be 26 ga

.010 would be very light for a trowl even in Ti

I'll throw a micrometer on mine and post it. It worked perfectly for the Ti trowel. It would be good for one of those "plate" type wood stoves.

Actually, these so-called 'gauges' are very unreliable:

0.020" mild steel is about 25 gauge
0.020" gal steel is about 27 gauge
0.020" aluminium is about 24 gauge
0.020" titanium is … not defined

I suggest you stick to real measurements!

Cheers
