Ben here, another new guy to the forum. have been a NOLS instructor since 1983. Going lighter and lighter, and eager to learn how to cut it down as far as possible while staying comfortable and with reasonable safety margin. (I'm not giving up my downmat!)

Excuse the ignorance, but what is a NOLS instructor?
Google shows wayyyy to many results.
Cheers

I think they just did an article not long ago on whether or not NOLS is ready to go lighter.
Welcome Ben!

There are some more NOLS articles as well… just do a quick search for NOLS on this site.
Isn't Mike Clelland a NOLS instructor? I know is BPL Staff as well and a great artist.
Welcome!!!

Cheers mate.
Mar 4, 2009 at 4:25 pm #1482784NOLS has been making an effort to realize lighter pack weights in general and also offers a few light backpacking courses. To my knowledge there is a partnership with BPL, Ryan, and also golite in this effort.
Yep, Though I don't know him, Mike Clelland is a also a NOLS instructor.
