A friend just got back from Aconcagua exceptionally disappointed with his 'mid. Too much fussing with pitch, noisiest and least stable around, minimal ventilation… and he's looking for a bomber but light tent. Gotta be double wall. Most importantly, easy but solid set up, good ventilation. Edit: Not looking for tent recommendations, generally. More specifically of these two tents…

I've never seen the Hillebergs in person, and in the photos I've seen it looks like the Allak and Jannu use partial sleeves at the corners. Is there a partial sleeve on each corner? And if so, has anyone actually set up the tent in 40+ MPH winds with one? Is it fidgety or easy?

Also, has anyone used one of these Hillebergs and a MSR Fury (aka Moss Stardome)? Opinions? Thanks!

"Is there a partial sleeve on each corner?" On the Allak yes. It is easy to set up but you have very long poles to fiddle with….

I have a Jannu and a Saivo, and they have partial sleeves as well.

I've not pitched the Jannu yet in really strong winds, but have done so with the Saivo, and it's quite easy. Just need to pin down the windward end of the tent (ideally, stake the whole thing out, including slack guylines), and clip up the fabric. The only slightly annoying thing is the "hood", which flaps around until its four corner toggles are set in place (it's difficult to thread the poles and get the top few clips on the tent onto the poles if the hood on the tent from the start, so I leave it threaded in place on one of he ends using just two of the toggles, then stretch it over the top and thread the other two toggles into place).

I've had both out in quite strong winds and snow, and they're rock solid when fully guyed out (with the Saivo getting the edge due to more crossing points and thicker poles).

Ventilation on the Saivo is great; ventilation on the Jannu is good (top vent makes a big difference, but there's no flow from the foot of the tent since it only has door up front).
