Well, when I first started getting gear back in decemeber, I was starting from scratch. I, even though all you BPL people told me not to, bought my pack first. You were right, I should have waited. Since then, I have managed to pick up some stuff at great prices, new and used. So far I have
Granite Gear Vapor Trail
Rei Sub Kilo +20
Tarptent Contrail
Prolite 3 short
MSR titan kettle
Mountain Hardwear Canyon Pants
Omni wool (80% polyester 20% merino wool) base layers
Stuff Sacks
First Aid kit
Now, my dad has decided that he wants to get into hiking also. So, I have two options, I can etiher give him my pack and get a different one, or keep mine and tell him to get his own gear. I've thought about frameless, but I just like having some support. A pack that I found on sale is the Atmos 50 but its 3lbs 1 0z :( but I really like the vent system and the pockets…I'm trying to decide if I should get that, get another vapor trail, or a ULA circuit. I have also toyed around at the idea of a mariposa plus. I am just not sure if I can go frameless also because of the size, when I go hiking in the fall or winter, I'm not sure I will be able to fit everything.
So now that I am back onto this stupid trying to find a pack deal, I decided to come to you guys because you always know best. From my gear so far, which pack would you reccomend.
I'll be hiking in the mid atlantic. Mostly WV spring-summer-fall. But I will be going to school in NC starting fall, so I'm not sure if I'll be hiking there or not, but I like to keep that option open. My goal by the end of summer is to do the 70 mile laurel highlands trail.
So what pack…Thanks everyone
