I'd like to treat our Keen Growler boots (which are an excellent winter/snowshoeing boot which we use in with Neoprene overboots to extend their range when very cold). Which DWR/Waterproofer spray/treatment do you use?

I've used Nikwax water-based treatment before, but I find it's not very durable and has to be reapplied fairly often.

Growlers are built with an eVENT membrane covered with nylon fabric. Sno-Seal is a beeswax formula that dries To a solid wax surface. It is excellent for leather boots but, not appropriate for Growlers.

Thanks Richard – I've had no leakage with the Growlers yet, but I've seen some moisture absorption in the outer fabric. Would you suggest Nikwax for the outer fabric to maintain the breathability?

EJ,

Any of the fluorocarbon based DWRs such as ReviveX, Grangers, etc. will last longer than the wax based Niwax. You have to heat-set the fluorocarbon DWRs at medium heat for about 45 minutes in your dryer.

I'm with Roger, works great. Use a hairdryer to make it soak in.
