Hello All,

I am trying to bring a Golite Jam 2 back to life. I am almost done but have come to a snag. Both side pockets have a problem. The stretchy material has separated from the webbing at the top of the pocket. How the heck do you sew rigid fabric/webbing to the elastic stuff? The thread will not stretch, but the material will. Is this obvious, or am I dense? Thanks for any help.

my sewing machine has a setting for sewing on stretchy material. It doesn't stitch straight, it goes back and forth so the material will be able to stretch through the stitching, it's nice.

This works, sometimes marginally depending on the fabric-
When sewing, stretch the "elastic" material out (after starting a few stitches) so that the elastic is tight or "unstretchy" and continue sewing both fabrics together, the non-stretch fabric and the elastic fabric; until you come to the end of the non-stretch fabric. Release the the "elastic" fabric and it should "pucker/pleat" like its suppose to. The thread gets pulled together by the elastic and holds everything together.
Its cheaper then buying a new machine.
Practice it on a sample first!
