    Hi

I just want to know why there are 2 kinds of aluminium bottles…

one for fuel and other for water.

Is it possible to use the one for water to boiling water…

    Thank

Most fuel bottles are “red” and water “blue”. This is so you don’t mix them up. Heating water might possibly warp the bottle.

Fuel bottles annodized on the inside are for carrying liquids that corrode aluminum such as acidic juices and alcohol.

The Swiss army has used aluminum bottles shaped like fuel bottles as the water container/kettle in an integrated heating system. These still turn up in surplus stores. The aluminum in these bottles is neither annodized not of very high quality, unlike the MSR and SIGG bottles. I see no reason why you couldn’t heat water in any aluminum bottle provided you did not have the top on tight. You might consider the inside annodied bottles because they would double as water bottles and will not react with water purifiers.
