My husband and I were talking the other night, and he had the idea of walking from Scotland through Italy. I know there are a lot of places where you can go from one inn to another in a day's time, and camp in other places.
I know it's not exactly the mainstream type of trip to ask about in this forum, but we trust the information we get here.
I googled it and all I can find are short 1-2 week "packages" advertised. Can anybody provide tips for a trip that would lean towards slackpacking? We'd like to take several months, go at our own pace, and not get extravagant with the budget(inns, not resorts). We'd probably go in summer-ish season to have the lightest pack possible for camping nights.
Would it make more sense to just plan on camping and set up inn to inn jaunts as we find them? Or are there particular "routes" where slackpacking is a fairly normal/affordable way to go?
Thanks in advance for any ideas you have.
