    Hi,

I'm planning on doing a 6 day loop somewhere in Colorado in July this year.

I'm looking for advice in choosing a destination.

Ideally it is a loop that is accessible using public transit. It would gradually climb in altitude to allow me a gentle acclimatization. It would take in a nice section of the CDT and would mostly be at or above treeline.

I can travel 12 to 20 miles daily and would like to cover at least 100 miles on this trip.

Peak bagging opportunities, cross- country travel, low crowds and opportunities to have campfires would all be welcomed but not required.

Thanks for any suggestion as I start narrowing on a few choices I will post them along with a gear list for further input.

    Martin,

    Here is an idea.
Hike the course of the Hardrock Hundred.

I think it has everything you are looking for:
    about 100 miles.
accessible using public transit (Durango RR…)
    includes some of the CDT.
a few great peaks to bag.
    cross country sections.
    low crowds.
    easy re-supply.

    Klas,

Many thanks for sharing that link. I'm not too far away on the front range, and will think seriously about venturing that way. Beautiful photographs!
