I plan on getting a pair of peak poles while they are on sale. Should i get the compacts or regular? The compacts weigh 11.2 ounces but only extend 49 inches while the regular weighs 12.5 ounces but extends 55 inches. I am 5'11 if that matters.
Thanks

You should get the regular ones. I don't know if you'll want a tarptent in the future but the compact ones are too short to use with them (for freestanding mode).
ul compacts is what i have and use for my MYOG tarptent-for-2 (or that is what the sticker said when i bought them, they don't actually say it on the poles.). I am 5' 6" they extend all the way to my shoulders. The last markings are at 140cm. The only reason i could see not getting the compacts is if your shelter will not work with them. Since my shelter uses one pole fully collapsed and the other at 100 and 105 marks i saved the ounce. the only other shelter i'd be using them with is a tarp and that won't be an issue. If you do get them, fyi the locks are finicky. When really wet they might not want to lock easily. If they decide not to lock pull them out till they won't go any further (so the red stop line is exposed) bend the pole slightly and twist till you get them to lock.
edit** upon further inspection the price tag, the receipt and the spot on the shelf all said ul compacts but they are actually the full length… just ordered another set for my g/f that should come as compacts. either way the extra 6 inches is really only needed if your shelter needs a longer pole.
