Do I even need to say that work is slow?

Does anyone have any really great online reading material they'd like to share? Any favorite articles, etc?

(Besides the great content on here, that is!)

edited to add: by reading material I mean pretty much anything outdoor/adventure related. I like to check out gear lists, survival accounts, trail journals, blogs etc. while stuck indoors at work. (don't tell my boss!)

Thanks Huzefa – I knew you'd have a few suggestions.

I haven't checked out psycho-vertical in a while – good reminder. I was going to dig up that thread about survival you posted awhile ago, too.

Well, this isn’t directly related to ultralight backpacking, but if you like reading about backpacking in general, trailjournals.com has some really great writers (and a lot of bad writers, too). I highly recommend Birdlegs’ AT journal from 2007 (full disclosure: I actually show up in the journal several times). She’s a great writer, and she just published a book about the AT.

Ha, actually – that is hands down the best trail journal I have read! I really enjoyed it when I followed along in '07. And I've yet to find one that can compare. She is an excellent writer. What's your trailname?

Yeah – I definitely meant hiking, adventure, gear related reading material! Perhaps I'll clarify that in my previous post. I spend ALL day staring at a computer screen for work – it's nice to break up the monotony by reading about outdoor stuff. I'd probably go crazy if I didn't. :)

other blogs/sites I read/have read:

I was Birdman on the AT. Yeah, Birdlegs is a great writer. I’d been following her journal, and I ran into her on my section hike, so I got to buy her dinner to thank her for all the great writing. I wish I could do that for all the other great journals I’ve read. Break-a-Leg (AT 2005) is my other favorite trail journal, another excellent writer. I just finished Rolling Thunder’s (2006) PCT journal which is also extremely well-written.

It sounds like you read more widely than me, but if you haven’t checked out viewsfromthetop, I’ve seen some really gorgeous photo journals there (though I can’t recall any in particular right now).
