Has anyone ever sized up (by one) on a Patagonia Houdini to accommodate thicker layers underneath? I would like to use the Houdini in a winter setting as an unltralight outer shell.

Simon, I sized up, and it helped. I have a Houdini in my normal size, too, which is great for around town and day hikes. The 'one size up' Houdini is still a bit tight at the underarm. There is also more loose fabric to flap in a strong wind. I have a Lowe Alpine pullover (about 10 years old) that I sized up for layering, and it is cut much looser in the underarm. The difference is that I notice the snugness in the underarm on the Patagonia Houdini, but never noticed it with the Lowe Alpine pullover. Layering a puffy vest (vice a jacket) under the Houdini might make the underarm snugness less noticeable.
I can comfortably wear a combination of capilene 2 (lightweight) or 3 (medium weight) base layer, an R1 pullover, and a Houdini (all the same size). Looser cut or puffier insulation layers, such as a Montbell down inner jacket or heavier fleece usually lead me to size up my Houdini.
Thanks, John. That's what I thinking.
My point of reference is the Pat. Dragonfly pullover, the precursor to the Houdini. Does anyone know if the cut of these are different?
