I'm interested in hearing about what users of the Patagonia Alpine Guide Pants think of them. Please also let me know what kind of conditions you wear them in.

I'm thinking of using them for snowshoeing trips here in the North East.

I'm comparing them to/considering them alongside the Arcteryx Gamma LT Pants and Wild Things' Power Shield soft shell pants.

Thanks
Dave

Last year I used Patagonia LW Alpine Guide Pants (no longer available) for snowshoeing in the PNW. This year I'm using Wildthings Mountain Tights (power shield). I liked both items but favor the Wildthings.

I like the alpine guide pants alot. They are quite water resistant, I'm only really careful of not wetting them out while digging snowshelters, and usually its just a little damp on the knees. Used them for my first time skiing (alot of falling) and wasn't that bad. They do wet out in storms however, I've gotten quite chilled sitting around in the rain mostly because of the pants, and also when it is snowing and you have a rain shell top, melted water is inevitably going to wet out your thighs. Gaiters are VERY good on this one, I recommend bungee but I was using some tent guyline stuff because it was what I had, I got a really nice comfy fit. Very comfortable as well, my favorite climbing pants and they have a nice inside without being really warm either.
