Would an osprey ariel pack work for a man. I know its a womans pack, but someone is selling it local for very cheap and I am wondering what the differences are btwn the aether and ariel.
Thanks

It fits ok. I talked to a gear guy at backcountry.com and he said that the shoulder straps and hip belt are shaped a little different and the distance between the two is less. Im not sure how much that effects it.

If it's cheap enough, why not buy it and try it out? If it works you got a good deal. If it doesn't work out you've got a great gift, or loaner, for a girl friend/significant other/wife.

Clay:

If you have access to trying out the Osprey Ariel — or the Vapor Trail which you listed as WTB — then sure, go for it. BUT I wouldn't buy anything sight unseen with no prior try out — unless there is a return option! Saving a few bucks and then getting stuck with something that fits you suboptimally is the wrong way to go.

With due respect to Denis — but I'll just state my views — getting unfamiliar stuff (esp. packs and shoes) sight unseen just because it's a 'good deal' is why so many people end up with closets full of unused or under-used gear.

Ben,
I understand. No offense taken. I sometimes pick up used gear when it's really cheap. Sometimes it needs some minor repair and If I can't use it (which is mostly) I pass it on to someone who can. I try to target gear that someone just getting into backpacking may be able to use. I wouldn't suggest this with shoes, though I have been cleaning and giving away some of my shoes lately. I've gone from a 10.5 to a size 11 and hate to see perfectly good hiking shoes/boots gathering dust.
