What's the emery board used for?
While on the trail, how many liters of water do you guys carry for 3 season hiking on trails with a water source reasonably accessible?

Emery boards? Nail grooming and smoothing callouses. Good match striker too.
How much water? 2 liters. I do carry a spare one liter bladder in my personal survival kit and can use that for rotating left-over water if I need to stretch my supply while treating another 2 liter batch.
