With Nunatak you can specify the desired width and length, you can also request overfill to maintain temp rating when increasing coverage. This will add slightly to the cost but you get a custom sleep system. Email Tom outlining your desired specifications and he will guide you from there.

I'm not sure where your $180.00 comes from, a standard Nunatak ARC Alpinist lists at $387.00 which I agree is not cheap. Good luck with getting/making a system that works well for you.

I make my own bags and quilts. What I now use all the time as a quilt started life as a sleeping bag with a longish 3/4 zip. I haven't made any changes to it: I just leave the zip completely undone. The footbox is an excellent idea for a quilt anyhow: it keeps the bottom end under control.
