Hey everyone,

My girlfriend bought me a Patagonia Down Sweater for the holidays! She didn't know that I had been looking at insulation pieces so I'm very impressed with the fact that she picked out something I had been looking at.

She knows my obsession with getting the right piece of gear though so she picked what she thought would be best, but of course expects me to research if it is what I really want.

It's hard for me to decide though because of the fact that patagonia doesn't list the fill weight of the jacket. They show it is 12.4 ounces but it is anyones guess how much of that weight is down. Anyone know how much down is in this thing?

Thanks!

I bought a Mont Bell Interjacket for my wife. I sent it back after seeing the down sweater! Nice zip pockets, better looking, and more loft. She is cold natured and loves it. It works as a jacket and as a mid layer. Trust me…tell her how much you like it, it will work great!! Two or three ounces of weight is nothing compaired to functionality. The Patagonia is water resistant and wind proof. I think a better garment and she will love it that you like it!!! Wieght is not the final and only litmus test.

William,

Yeah, I already told her I love it! I really do and the weight is really fine for me. I just know she expects me to research, but I've already told her I plan on keeping it, I just couldn't help looking and comparing! I guess it is my nature. It fits me great and I love the outer fabric. I was planning on keeping it no matter what because I think she made a great choice.

:) Aww…my girlfriend is the best!

Andrew,

And it's much more waterproof than Patagonia advertises, and the fabric is really stout. Like all Patagucci garments, really good quality – and expensive too. But worth it in my opinion.

Thank you for the information Richard!

I've been using the jacket for a week now as I walk to work and it's has felt great. It drizzled one day and I was very impressed with the DWR. So far I really love this jacket.

I think the that down is distributed oddly in mine though. I've tried shaking it around, but my left sleeve has a baffle or two that feel half as full (at best) than all the other baffles. Specifically, it is the third baffle up from the sleeve cuff on both sides. It feels very under filled at the sleeve seam. Anyone else with a new model feeling this?

I may have to trade it in for another one that feels more evenly filled.

I too notice that the down amount/is much less in varius areas : the end of the sleeves, the armpits, and the lower part of the back of the jacket. And Yes i did try to shift the down from the edges to the centers by shaking it…etc.but the quantity, i believe it just not there for some reason… or else it would've been a great jacket.

Mine, is well distributed and I was surprised to see a couple of people with this issue. I would take them back and exchange them. Also check the replacement garment. This is sometimes a problem with buying stuff made in China.

Does anyone know the fill weight of the current Patagonia down sweater vest? (weight is 278g, fillpower 800) – no idea why it’s not in the specs..

This is info I got in an email in march of 2015 all for size Medium. Camt imagine it’s changed all that much.

“Down Sweater fill weight =  95 grams
Down Sweater Hoody =     104 grams
Ultralight Down Sweater = 100 grams
Ultralight Down Sweater Hoody = 108 grams”

Michael, I think it’s correct – I asked about the Down Sweater Vest
Thanks for the other numbers though!
