If I wanted to get my BPL Stix as ski poles what would you use for height guidelines, assuming i can use the straps and some duct tape for lower grips.

The Stix Poles make excellent ski poles. They are significantly more rigid than some production model ski poles. At least one other BPL staffer other than myself also swears by them.

I’m not sure I follow your line of questioning in terms of sizing, but I presume you are wondering what size to get.

Here is a link to a ski pole size calculator based on your height:

BPL Stix are superb alpine ski poles. I have dedicated mine exclusively to skiing. I have become a convert to strapless poles. My hiking pole of choice is the GG Lightrek. I like the smaller diameter shaft, excellent grips, and lack of straps. Simple and ultra light.

In terms of hiking, it seems that the design of the BPL Stix are vulnerable to breakage with the exposed carbon shat at the tip. A possible solution is to glue a Leki tip over the shaft as discussed in another thread in this forum.
