Netting vs. Wind Speed

Noseeum blocks a lot of wind. In a tarptent, it can be howling out there — but only a moderate flow inside. With a double wall tent with noseeum inner and a fly that reaches down close to the ground, the combination blocks out even more wind!

But interestingly, slow "night air" seems to permeate right through the netting — making for pleasant summer use — and drafty cold winter use.

Of course, if's it sultry and near windless outside, it will be the same (or even slightly worse) inside.

Finally, all the quality tents that I know of feature noseeum nettings. Only the very, very cheapest "boast" mosquito netting.

I've noticed this too. Although I think the low walls of most double wall tents also contribute, noseeum netting does block some wind. Never heard of anybody offering a tent with non-noseeum netting as an option either.

I've noticed it in an almost completely screen tent, with the fly off.

I'm with Ben. Last September I camped for one night without the fly on my Evolution 2P and was very cold, though there was no discernible wind. I got up at about 2:00 am and hung the fly. From then on I was warm and comfy.
