Holy manufacturing variances Batman. My new TorsoLite pad weighs in at a mere 8.9 ounces. That's a whole ounce lighter than the touted:
Weight: 10-11 oz (283-312 g) – depends on manufacturing lot, some have gone as low as 9.9 (281 g), some have gone as high as 10.9 (309 g)
Just luck, or has the TorsoLite gone on a deliberate pre-holiday diet? And to what, if any, effect?
I got mine a year ago and it's pretty light as well. 8.7-8.8 ounces for mine if I remember correctly. That's good and bad… Good because it's a lot lighter than comparable inflatables, bad because I'm sure the missing ounce was in insulation that I wouldn't have begrudged packing. It's a 3 season (not winter) pad to be sure, but an ounce of foam insulation might be noticeable if I were to compare to pads from different production runs side by side. Oh well, I like the pad too much to want to find out.
