Cold weather bag for ladies

Anyone have any beta on REI Kilo Plus

Are you asking about a -30* or 30*? ;-)

Temperature is the least of your worries once she hears that you're trying to buy a "witch bag for your wife".

I forgot to add….I sleep in a 15* bag year round except for in deep winter, then a 0* bag. In summer I just use my bag as a quilt if it is hot.
For cold feet? Sierra Designs down socks (not the booties!). Toasty!

I have a couple year old Kilo Plus that is 700 loft down and rated to 0°F. I paid less than 200 for it and for that it's a good quality lightweight bag, but the temp rating is exaggerated (not unusual for low to mid priced bags). I use it for camping in the N Rockies from late May to early Sept with the nights sometimes getting down to 20° at altitude, spending some spring days on snow even (at which point it's still workable), but I know I'd be an icicle at 0°!

Sarah I'm talking 30 or lower, I'm a Texan and you won't catch me in -30 I don't care how awesome the view is:)

If she is normal build the REI Sub Kilo is a good buy/weight. Warm and toasty!

Do you ever wear layers while snoozing? She needs room 'cause she gets clasto….clauseto….err she hates tight places. (like I hate spelling).
Ps Do you know of a great website with super tasty cook in bag trail cooking tips? :)

Anybody got the scoop on the montbell "gathered quilt" bags? Can you layer well with it, true to temp, durability? Inquiring minds want to know.

Well, I just bought a UL super stretch 0 degree from montbell… so if your wife is interested, I can let you know how that is. No info on the gathered quilt though.

And fyi the customer service rep who just sold me the bag just said (unprompted) that she has the same bag and has been very happy with it.

Also, I'd agree to take REI bag ratings with a grain of salt. My friend had the REI sub kilo +15 degree and was cold in 30 degree weather. She is a cold sleeper though.

It is a pretty tight fit – but I am on the heavy side of fitting into it though. Still, I can shove myself and a down jacket into it if needed. Room wise though I prefer my Big Agnes 15* bag (Roxy Ann). I wallow in that thing….it is like having a rectangle bag. It isn't light though….ah well!

I would love info on that montbell super stretch o. I'm looking at a montbell for me too, I got one of their insulated synth parkas and I really dig it. Thanks for the help.
