Ok so this is now in the correct section. Planning a hike in January for Point Reyes. Start at the Palomarin TH, camp at Wildcat, hang at the beach, then the next day back to the Ranger Station. I think it is 17 miles in two days. A real nice hike. Josh and Jay both of you said you'd be down for this. Anyone else??
Jay I will bring my ipod. 160 gigs of punk rock1
Nov 9, 2008 at 6:57 pm #1458295Sounds great Ken!!!!!
Nov 11, 2008 at 5:31 pm #1458584A couple of months away but so far these are the folks that have expressed interest:
Me
Jay Wilkerson
Josh Billings
Denis Hazlewood
Dylan Taylor
Ryan Dunne
Aaron Sorenson
Tony Wongand possibly a few friends of mine. If we have a group of 8-12 I'd assume that we will need a group site. I will take care of getting the site and coordinate logistics and such. Folks if all of you are down, how does the third Saturday in January sound???? This is a beautiful hike with stunning ocean views and on the second day we hike through the coastal mountains back to the Bear Valley Visitor Center. A shuttle is going to be required so we might need a few cars to be at each trailhead.
If anyone else would like to join us, come on and join. Casey Bowden where are you????
Nov 11, 2008 at 8:01 pm #1458616Hey Ken,Looks like a good turn out. I'm open all that month.
Josh
Nov 12, 2008 at 7:56 am #1458667Yes it does, should be a cool trip!

I'm right here. Pencil in a spot for me as well!
Nov 12, 2008 at 6:13 pm #1458748There ya go!! Welcome to our hike!!!!
Nov 12, 2008 at 9:34 pm #1458791Awesome. I'm down.
I was out there around this time last year and the weather was absolutely perfect. I saw a greater variety of large birds than I have anywhere else on that trip…
Nov 13, 2008 at 11:57 pm #1458906I'd be interested in going and meeting other Bay Area UL hikers. I'd be glad to help with transportation and shuttle.
Nov 14, 2008 at 7:48 am #1458917Richard you are more than welcome to come!!
Nov 14, 2008 at 8:38 am #1458922Ken,
Which way did you plan on going to get from Wildcat to the Bear Valley Vistor Center?
As an alternative, since car shuttles are required anyway, would you consider going from Wildcat all the way up the Coastal Trail to Limantour Beach? This allows you to cut down to the ocean at Sculptured Beach (just south of Coast Camp) and enjoy a spectacular walk among the waves.
Nov 15, 2008 at 9:59 am #1459058I'd be down with that too!
Nov 16, 2008 at 8:11 am #1459141Ken,
The third Saturday is good for me.The Limantour end is a bit far for me (I'll be officially "old" as of 1/13) I'd prefer to end at Bear Valley.
Nov 16, 2008 at 2:20 pm #1459176No probs. The hike through to the Bear Valley Visitor Center is quite nice.
Nov 17, 2008 at 9:56 pm #1459403I'm also interested in Pt. Reyes the third weekend of January (MLK weekend, correct?). It would be great to meet other Bay Area UL backpackers. Is there still room?
-JeremyNov 24, 2008 at 4:27 pm #1460500Double Posting here:
I was chattin with Ken thru PM's. I'd sign-on with you guys, Josh has been reminding me about it every time we talk, but I just agreed to a work project that full week, both weekends. UGH! An outing the weekend of the 24th would be a great treat after this beast of a project.
If you guys are flexible, keep the 24th in mind. If not, there's plenty of trips to come.
cheers,
-MichaelNov 24, 2008 at 5:20 pm #1460502Jeremy, there is room. Please come, this will be fun!
Michael, I have no problem moving it back a week
Folks Let's put this in writing here, How is January 24th. One night, two days and let's hope that we have good enough weather to do this. If there is a Pacific storm coming in, I will not go. If there is a chance of rain, lets still do it. Tentativly the 24th!@

I'm good for the 24th. No sense in walking into a storm at Wildcat Camp.
Susan and I did an overnight at Sky Camp last Tuesday:Sunny on Tuesday. Wednesday morning the fog was so thick you couldn't see your feet while you were standing on them.
A sunny walk up Bear Valley

Nov 30, 2008 at 11:29 pm #1461334How many people are going now? Might have to get a group permit at some point.
Dec 1, 2008 at 7:34 am #1461351yeah that is what I am thinking. They have two group sites I think at the camp. I will look into this tomorrow, after I get through getting back into work today after the Holiday weekend.
