I seem to recall that it was B & W only at one time – does anyone know with which issue it went to color?

I believe the first full color issue was number 9. I can't say when there was the first introduction of any color. Now that it's out of print I feel like we're talking about some collectable – where's my first edition Spiderman?

Well, you're about right. I've enjoyed it enough to purchase some back issues with my refund. I am so very disappointed this magazine will end. I ended subscriptions to Backpacker and NG Adventure b/c my first love (I mountain bike and kayak too) is lightweight hiking and this is the only periodical explicitly devoted to that discipline.

Thanks for your reply.

If anyone else knows when any color began I thank you for your reply.

Color began with issue 9 with only a little color here and there in previous issues. It will unfortunately become invisible with issue 12 and all others which follow….

It was very interesting to see BPL’s ethics/mission spelled out in print in the magazine. Your goals are met. They described exactly how you came across and I was thinking of becoming a member and I was waiting to get the print. It had good contents. Really it was a good article.
