Apparently he emailed Henry and asked him to blank out the company name on the box. So it had been sitting there for days while he was on a business trip and I didn't know!
He got me the inner liner as well.

Woohoo! I'd be interested in the effectiveness of the liner. Have fun!

Oh boy …. now you've stepped onto the Tarptent slippery slope. So many interesting models that it's hard to stop at just one. I know, I've been there:-)

The Double Rainbow is a very nice shelter. I think you will like the liner.

Heck yes there is time! November is kind of nice to backpack in. Just not high miles though……

I'd like to finish that section of the PCT Hoosierdaddy and I couldn't get done in June, down by the Columbia River…..

The Rainbows are among the few TarpTents I haven't owned so I don't know this myself but many people report that you REALLY don't want to rush into using an R or DR without seam sealing.

Rumors have it that it DOES rain occasionally in your neck of the woods.

Jim's right, Sarbar, you definitely want the thing seam sealed before taking it out.

Tarptent offers seam sealing at the factory for a low price; and frankly, I am surprised that Synchro didn't pay for it. Everyone knows that seam sealing is tedious and possibly hazardous to your health. Why did he not pay to have it done? Does he not love you? Does he not care?

Why does nobody but Golite use the thread that expands when wet and does not require their shelters to be seam sealed?

Yeah, I don't think I have much ground to crab about having to seam seal it :-D
I am going to do it this week – I'll set it up in my office and do it.
Kill some brain cells…lord. Lock up the cats and I can open the patio doors on my office for fresh air.

I know on my AGG tarp tent I was able to "convince" George to do it for me :-D Hehheh!

Seam sealer also adds strength to the sewn joints. Personally, I wouldn't trust watertight threads.
