I like long sleeve baselayers that zip because they have slightly raised collars or mock necks.
Are there are short sleeve base layers that have more than a t-shirt collar?

and I believe Sugoi makes some bike threads which may work..
Although billed as a river/paddling shirt, I find microlight to be very cool and comfortable, so much so that I bike in mine during the summer. It isn't my first choice for hiking, since I have another t-shirt I like better, but it could work.
I was pretty sure this was on sale this fall, so definitely wait to see if drops into the 20s. Maybe dorky looking, but short sleeve and a zip collar:
