I'd like to know how much headroom a Competition/Photon has near the end of the tent.
I'm 5'10", plus a little with a fleece hat.
If I'm lying down, stretched out, can I sit up and not hit the inner tent? Or do I have to scoot towards the middle to avoid contact?
Any owner/user insights??

I own both the Laser Competition and the Hilleberg Akto. I am your height (5'10") and I can sit up in the Laser without touching the top of the inner tent.
Of course, with the tent angling down at both ends I have to sit in the middle to get the headroom.
I find that the Akto is a little smaller, and I do catch my head on the roof of the inner.
I use the POE Thermo 6 2/3 length sleeping pad in my tents. Depending on the thickness of your pad you may catch the roof if it is much thicker.
