Having given up on ever getting a BPL Firelite SUL550 I ordered a Brasslite 550. It arrived today and I set about cutting off the handles and handle brackets. I then installed a Ti spoke bail handle and constructed a Reflectix Cozy.

Hi Denis,

Looks pretty good. How did you remove the bracket from the pot?

A dust mask, Dremel Tool with a cut-off wheel, and crosscut and fine-cut flat file. I cut a little deep at one spot but didn't go through the pot wall. The whole process (pot and cozy) took about two hours.

Dennis,
I'm curious why you wanted the bail instead of the folding handles. Are you cooking over a fire?

Jason,
I mostly use a Snow Peak Giga stove with a Snow Peak Ti bowl windscreen. The bail weighs a lot less than the original handles and, with the bail standing upright, stays cool enough to pick up with my bare hand.
