Big Sky – What’s the latest?

A coworker ordered a tent from them a couple monthe ago. Said she had about a 2 month wait for it. Hope this helps

I did email Big Sky regarding lead times etc last week and have yet to receive a response. In contrast I also emailed Stephensons as I also like the small 2C tent of theirs. I received a reply the same day.

Along with many others, I like some of BS' tent designs! But even with that plus continuous publicity from BPL, Backpacker, Outdoor, etc. — we rarely come across any posts about BS anymore! Most of the time, folks can't wait to post about their new tents — but almost no one writes about any BS purchases in the forums — and absolutely nothing about timely delivery! Pity. But as they say, silence can speak volumes.

Looks like you have your answer right there. As they say, 'the truth is in the pudding,' or something along those lines… Do keep us updated, whichever company you do business with. I like the Warmlite tents too, but have always been a little hesitant to shell out the fairly high prices they ask since their catalogue is so wordy and indirect.

Great! Send your payment… then try to get a response as to your order status. If you actually do hear, let us know if you ever receive your order. Who knows? Maybe someone will actually get one.

It is, but most of the complaints I've heard about this company have been that before they get your money, they're great. Your email will get replied to and your phone call will get returned in a timely manner. After they have your money in hand, however, they ignore your emails and you shouldn't expect to hear from them again until 9 months later when you've become so fed up that you filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and threatened legal action. Only then might you get a delivery quote of 1-9 weeks. Honestly, I have no idea why people even consider doing business with this company anymore, or why BPL continues to feature Big Sky tents in their gear features. Seems highly irresponsible on BPL's part, even, to keep doing this without including a footnote that includes a dire warning to their readers that ordering from Big Sky is done at their own risk.

I can report that in my dealings with Big Sky the response and delivery times have been nothing short of spectacular.

I must add however that I'm a pretty good customer. I buy Big Sky's entire production runs and then I bury the tents out back. Some day they are going to be worth a fortune!

Many thanks for all the posts. I think that it is fairly obvious that it is still a big risk to order from BSI at this time.

It is a shame because there is no doubt that their designs are very good, but until they get their service in order it is just too risky.

As I mentioned earlier I am also looking at the Stephensons 2C and I have never heard a bad report regarding their delivery times.

I agree that their website is a bit like sitting down and reading War and Peace from cover to cover, and this may put some people off – as it has me up until this point. I do think that they have good products though so I will probably go with them this time.
