I have one of these without the hood. It's around 6 yrs old now, and is a great 3-season top. The addition of the hood would only make it more versatile. I'm not sure why they didn't choose to go the extra 15cm with the zip though. It would make it much more versatile. The only thing I can think of is that they were looking to differentiate from all the other hooded puffies on their site. Someone at MEC has sure got the hood bug!
