Now I don’t know about Plumpynut, but I am familar with some other products classified as survival rations with much longer shelflifes (5-10 yrs) than the 2 years for Plumpynut – Survival Tabs, Mainstay, Seven Oceans, and Mayday. Mayday is OK for vegetarians and people allergic to nuts. While Seven Oceans doesn’t contain any religious/culturally taboo ingredients. Survival Tabs comes in a vanilla flavor besides chocolate. I was just searching for something else and came across this US Coast Guard list. Personal taste dictates choice. This type of food can be stowed in one’s vehicle just in case.
