I'll be in the market for a thermawrap for next summer. They currently have the tried and true version on sale because a newer version is out.
The updates include slightly angled baffles (probably just for looks?), a softer and less shiny fabric, fewer colors, and a couple of stretch panels. Weight is pretty much the same.
Has anyone had any chances to compare the too? If the new one isn't much an an improvement, I'll save $70 and get the color I wanted (not offered on the new one….yet).
I love the old one — and so do legions of others. If you have a need for such a jacket, then you may as well grab one and save 70 bucks.
I'm with Ben. My girlfriend liked mine so much I got her one, and a second one for myself. I'm not sure the old one could be improved much. The shine of the old ones softens with use and washings. I just wish they still offered the red one. I really like the pants too. Though I would recommend wearing shorts over them to protect from sitting on rough rocks or gnarly logs. The jacket and pants form a cold weather sleep system for use with my North Face Beeline bag.
Where are they on sale? I'd like to pick up a parka at the discounted price.
Edit: Nevermind, I can see it is through montbell, but I'm wondering about sizing. I've seen a few threads, but figured I'd ask.
I'm 5'8" and 155. I'm thinking either a medium or a large. I want it to have enough room to fit over a few layers.
The sizing is a little wierd. I'm 5'9", 208#, and wear an XL. The chest and body length are fine. The arms are long enough to pull down and cover my hands. This works OK. I wear mine more than any other jacket, untill it's cold enough for down.

I'm 5'9" and 150 lbs and I wear a medium for MontBell American size and large for MontBell Japanese size.
