Looking for a new hiking staff

I'm a one pole guy. I recently lost my Komperdell hiking staff crossing a fast moving stream. The water pulled it from my hand as I lept and I never saw her again :(. If anyone finds a staff in the 3 sisters wilderness area, OR on the PCT I hope she serves you well.

Now I'm looking for a lighter replacement. Mine was 10.35 oz. REI has a carbon bamboo staff that has a listed weight of 6.75 oz. Does anyone know if this is a sturdy staff or does anyone recommend anything else? I just want a third leg that I can use as a tarp pole and has a camera mount.

Yeah, I would recommend it. And this staff weighs less than the advertised weight (how often do you see that?) if you don't use the rubber foot.

Christopher, Any chance the REI Carbon Bamboo staff has a camera mount under the foam hand grip. The grip looks just like the 4 winds staff and it unscrews with the entire grip coming off to reveal a camera mount.

If you don't mind my jumping in… yes, it has a camera mount under the grip. It also has a small compass imbedded in the top of the grip that I don't think REI mentions.

No part of it is made bamboo. The top section is simply wrapped with veneer for looks.

I like mine. Wish it was about four inches longer when fully extended though. I have to scrunch down a bit to look through my viewfinder.
