Nokia announced 5800 XpressMusic aka "Tube" yesterday. It may be too early to get excited but I am. I think it may just be the holy grail of convergence devices appropriate for backpacking.
Here is why I think so:
Display: TFT touchscreen, 16M colors
Size: 360 x 640 pixels, 3.2 inches
What a gorgeous display! The resolution is one of the best out there, better then even iPhone. Good for reading a ebook or zooming on maps.
Camera: 3.15 MP, 2048×1536 pixels, Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, video(VGA@30fps), flash; secondary videocall camera
Specs look good, if all you want to do is share pics on your website/forums for trip reports or keeping memories for viewing on the phone.
A application which allows use of its powerful dual LED as flash light will be really nice.

– Nokia Maps 2.0 Touch

Nokia Sports Tracker is a GPS-based activity tracker that runs on Nokia smartphones. Information such as speed, distance and time are automatically stored in your training diary, and on this site you can store and share your workouts and routes.
You can also check altitude, calories spent, and automatically geotag your photos and it will show on your route when you upload the route data and pics to the nokia website. Lets hope they release the application for this new OS soon.

The battery capacity is pretty good, especially compared to other phones this light.

What makes nokia a winner IMO is the price. Nokia is a midrange phone and will cost -€279 (about $392) unlocked! Thats the best bang for your buck you will find.
