Brasslite Turbo II-D

Have you looked at the Trangia burner? I have used a number of different alcohol stoves (including the brasslite) and have not found anything that is as efficient and hot as my trangia burner. The Trangia cook sets with their heavy windscreens are too bulky and heavy for ultra light packing, but the burner is great when paired with the Caldera cone or other lightweight windscreen options like the clickstand.

Did this ever make it into production? What's it like to use?

Yes, the Clikstand made it to production. http://www.clikstand.com/home.htm I purchased the S1 several years ago and use it almost exclusively now.

Having a third hand would be helpful to hold all three side walls together when inserting the center piece. After a couple of meals, I rarely dislodge a side wall during assembly.

It's simple to use. It doesn't provide quite the protection of the factory Trangia windscreen, but it does a pretty good job. Very light, very compact. A good choice if you like the Trangia system but want to cut weight.
