4 man tent recommendation

Could you compromise with oware's 10×10 pyramid with bug netting and make your own bathtub floor?

I also heard that Henry Shires was working on a 4 person tarptent. Not sure where he is on the project. Given the popularity of the sublite he may be having to focus on this new offering for '08 and not the 4 person shelter?

For now I've settled on using my Tarptent Rainshadow 2 and bringing along my SMD Lunar Duo when the wife cares to join us.

I've looked at the pyramids (even considered/drew up plans for making one) but 10×10 is a bit too big of a footprint for me- I think it would really limit site selection.

What you're doing with the Rainshadow 2 and youre SMD is probably what I'll end up doing. I have a Contrail and love it when I'm not in the mood to tarp camp…

A contrail and a rainshadow together would weigh far less than anything for the equivalent # of people.

A three man probably is a better option- my wife is only with us 25% of the time anyhow.

Perhaps check with Henry Shires at Tarp Tent first. His "family tarptent" may be worth waiting for. If you can't wait I'd highly recommend the Rainshadow 2 plus another 2 man shelter. On consideration I had was to be able to "share" watching the kids at night. If I had my wife stay with the kids in the Rainshadow while I was sleeping uninterrupted in a 1 person tent/tarp she'd probably douse me with stream water in the morning! :)
