I am devoted to my Integral Designs Event Bivys (Unishelter and Micro bivy). However, there are times, especially in Denmark, where a little extra rain protection may be useful, especially when getting in and out of the bivy. So my question is what are you choices? Recognizing that items such as Golite umbrellas are not available here and stealth camping is a necessary way of life.

You can chose to forgo your bivy and tarp. Instead, just wear your rain jacket and pants for summer or if it is colder then carry WP insulated jacket and pants. After a lot of brainstorm [no experience here] to me it seems a practical solution for rain. It may not work if you are uncomfortable side-sleeping.

Ofcourse if you dont already have WP insulated clothing then buying them off the market will be very expensive. Alternately, if you have insulted clothing but not WP you can buy a driducksuit. I have read that they are plenty large.

Hi Roger.
I cut up an old sil-nylon tent fly-sheet. I used an end piece shaped like a triangle with one of the corners cut off. I left on the guy loops on the edge, and one mid-panel loop to use as a lifter. The 'blunt' corner is pegged to the ground, with the other sides pegged too. It forms a mini flying 'V' and gives good shelter to a bivv-bag user to mid torso. It weighs 198g with all loops. The long side of the triangle is 2.5m long. The chopped off edge is 0.85m long. The 2 connecting angled sides are 1.4m long.
If there is a group of us i'll bring a 10 x 10 tarp.

Thanks

It looks like I will be making a small tarp with some silnylon I have.

Many thanks

Roger
