Adding ventilation gussets?

Breeze and volume are good.

Does anyone have advice on adding mesh panels to armpits and crotch? What kind of mesh (ranging from 1/8" hole to no-see-um or layers)? Or perhaps using some base layer fabric (Capilene, etc.)? It only needs to maintain a minor level of modesty over average undergarments.
