Anyone have experience with the Smartwool merino base layers?

What the quality like? Anyone have any sizing references since I'm ordering online? Run big, run small?

All help is appreciated.

The two pieces I own (long johns and a Zip-T) seem to run true to size. They are not quite as soft as some other brands such as Ibex, Icebreaker, or the BPL merino wool, but they have held up well.

I wear the boxers all the time, which they seem to have altered to a more standard shorter leg fit. Which is a shame.
The lightweight zip tees are good, but have a boxy cur rather than a tapered body. Nice smooth fabrics throughout the range.
Sizing is typical US, which means I take a medium to get a close fit on my European size large body!

Anyone have any recommendations on other lightweight merino base-layers that are in the same price range?

I don't like the sounds of a boxy cut since I'm so thin.

Icebreaker have a much better cut. Their 200 and 150 weight ranges are very good.
Their Mondo Zip and Oasis Crew are worth looking at.

Icebreaker have a slim fitting range (BODYFIT – like the two Peter mentioned) and a 'regular' fit, the latter which I've found similar to my Smartwool lightweight zip T. Personally I think the fit & wool quality of the Smartwool piece is just as good as my icebreaker stuff. Not very patriotic I know.
