bush buddy and caldera cone

I have a Ti-Tri (Caldera Cone made of Ti w/ Ti floor) for a Snow Peak Trek 900. One also exists for a BPL SUL1100. Others may work too, but these are the only two that come to mind right now.

Even if you could find a cone to fit the BushBuddy/GSI, you wouldn't be able to feed the BushBuddy with a cone on. It would only work if you were contantly taking the pot + cone off to put more fuel in. Big hassle.

i'd just like to improve windprotection for the BB when needed and improve performance of the supercat that i tend to use. my home made foil screens including the MYOG screen from the techniques section of BPL haven't lasted. (the foil tins i used/could find, weren't as thick as the ones BPL must have used)
I'd like to have the option of bringing both stoves in certain situations maybe even have the option to use the gram cracker.
what might you guys suggest for a windscreen for both?

i just had a look again at the ti tri cone on traildesigns website and it looks like the slot on the cone for feeding a fire/pothandles might work with a bushbuddy. maybe it would provide enough space to feed a BB if pot is raised for fire mode ie sitting on top of the BB pot support. I haven't seen a cone or ti tri so i'm reaching here maybe…

anythoughts out there on whether this might be doable?

if you get the ti-tri cone get the optional floor plate (circle to keep from burning the ground) and leave the bush buddy at home. Why carry 6oz of redundant gear. The ti-tri is perfect for alcohol, esbit and wood (only use wood in the ti cones)

tim do you know how the ti tri compares to the BB in terms of efficiency?
i like the BB because it uses very little fuel when you get used to using it. For me the BB has made wood burning justifiable while hiking.

Baz, If I were you I would shoot the guys at Trail Designs an emil and ask them for their recommendations. They know their cones better than anyone, and are good at thinking outside the square.

i see your in NZ. lovely country, travelled and cycletoured there 4 yrs ago. so much to do in NZ and 'keas' (spelling?)to worry about instead of bears!! ha… i remember a kea taking a real interest in my tent while camping below avalanche glacier on the south island. good place to test gear NZ.

Baking dishes are said to provide adequate foil. Failing that, have a look at the Trail Designs windshields. I have been using one for years, and there is a Spotlite review of it here at BPL.

Note that they do both the Vari-Vent and a plain one. The plain one is actually more robust and weighs the same.
