Do the Patagonia Simple Guides have a fly

Yes, the pants do have a zipper fly however they do not have a button, so the waist band goes all around with a drawstring. these pants are amazing and i think patagonia took them out of their line for this up coming season so grab em while you can. i wore them for 45 days straight on an alaskan mountaineering/backpacking trek and they have since then become one of my favorite 3 season staple pieces. incredible product!!!

That's what I wanted to hear. Any comment on fit? Patagonia seem to have a pretty wide range within sizes.

they have a nice slim fit and stretch very nicely. i am a pretty slim guy , wear 30 waist but own the pants in a medium, i could have went with a small but they still fit great.

Yeah, that's what concerns me. I'm also a size 30, but I'm not sure whether to go a Small or Medium. I'm leaning toward small, but would like to hear why you chose medium. Unfortunately I can't try them on, and cost to return is around $20-30..

I wish they made the Simple Guide with inch waist sizes. I do like them and have even used them for 4 winter use in Colorado. They just don't fit quite as well as the Guide Pants with there more extended size range.

My favorite lighter weight softshell pant is the Jackalope, they are available in the inch sizes versus the S, M, or L.

Although the pants do have a fly, they have other features I have found disappointing. For one, the fly seems a bit too short to me, the drawcord waist tends to slip off my waist when wearing a pack, and the pockets are just right for a girl's hands. I do not have large hands, but the pockets are way too small for me. I took my pants to a tailor and had belt loops added and the pockets lengthened with microfleece and now find them about perfect. I also have a pair of the Patagonia Guide Pants that do have deep pockets and belt loops. I believe they are a far better product for winter usage, but a bit heavy for fall weather where I live in No. Idaho.
