You mention that the Duo's are larger. Does that include the Spectralite versions, too?

Is the Spinntex EXP as noisy a fabric as normal spinnaker?

It is a ripstop nylon with silicone impregnation on both sides just like the previous Spinntex but is improved in every way.

Nylon? I had thought that Spinntex .97 was polyester … or am I remembering wrong (been known to happen often). Or maybe just wishful thinking … I'm really hoping to make a lighter tarptent that also sags less when it gets cool/damp.

It should be polyester. That's why the material is so noisy.

The feel is the same as the old Spinntex and most other woven spinnaker fabrics. It is a bit noisier compared to soft fabrics and 1.35 silinylon; but less so in use as a tarp or shelter vs just holding it in your hands when new. That factor is due to the type of impregnation, a harder silicone impregnation that saves weight for a given water resistance, than the woven material.

It has very low stretch, much less than silnylon- the same as the previous Spinntex.

Are you bringing back the SPin pack too?

Er, Ron, may I trouble you again about the size of the new Spinntex Duo versions compared to the Spectralite Duo versions? Are they they same size or are only the Spinntex versions larger?

Per the MLD site the measurements are as shown below.

The new Spinntex EXP Grace Duo measures: 9.75' ridgeline length x 9.2' front width x 7.8' rear width.

The Spectralite Grace Duo measures: 9' ridgeline length x 8' front width x 7' rear width.

Thanks Thom, but I had already looked at the site. I thought maybe Ron just hadn't updated the Spectralite Duo sizes. The Duo models in the three different materials Ron offers were always the same size before, so I thought perhaps he had updated all the models.

The stock Spectalite.60 duo tarp stays the same- roll width of about 48-50 " limits the max width.

Almost any product/size/mod is possible as a custom order but a wider Spectralite tarp would have more seams.

Other Spinntex EXP products may come back or may be changed or just updated; but no set time or order for return at this time.
