The full roll of Leukotape weighs 5.0 oz. I'd like to pack just a 1-3 ft. length since I don't need the full roll. Has anyone done this? Is there any loss of adhesion re-rolling a short piece around a pencil or a straw?

I wondered the same thing. In an old thread Rick Dreher said that he re-rolls it on a drinking straw and the adhesive seems fine as long as you don't touch it.
I rolled several feet around an empty plastic container that "Airborne" came in. Inside the container went my sewing kit, tweezers, and some other doo-dads. I'm planning for the Leukotape to serve as anti-chafe, bandaid, and gear repair tape.
I reroll a couple of feet around a tube with tweezers, needles, etc in it. The adhesion has held for days through water crossings and downpours once removed from the tube and applied to my feet.
Follow up question- does Leukotape need tincture of benzoin in order to adhere?
Not for me. I thought I would need it because duct tape won't even stick to my skin but the Leukotape sticks like glue, no benzoin required. YMMV though.
