Better sleep system?

Hi Brett! You might want to check out MontBell's down Thermal Sheet, a kind of modified rectangular, sewn-through bag. It weighs about the same as a synthetic quilt (14 oz) but packs much smaller, which may be a consideration when carrying two bags in colder weather. In addition, even though it's rated for 50 degrees, I've used it down to 40 (in a bivy) and was comfortable.

It is versatile, and it is good to have a down and synthetic combo for safety reasons. For me it has a big flaw though. Two lightweight bags/quilts, will not be as light as one dedicated cold temp bag/quilt. You have four layers of fabric.

Sorry but the Montbell stuff is too small/short for me.

Brett, I have similar issues, being 6 foot 8". I have commissioned Tim Marshall of this parish to make me a 16oz quilt containing 6oz of top grade down to make my summer sleep comfortable. My WM ultralite will take care of spring, autumn and most of winter, and the two together should be good for the top of the world.

$10 say that is the down I just sold him. Dang, why didn't I think of that?
