My wife and I were in Old Navy yesterday and I ran across a hooded grid fleece that I picked up on a whim. It is a quarter zip, hooded fleece that has a 1/4″ grid that looks similar to the Polartec Powerdry used on the R1, but upon closer inspection it is sort of in between an R1 and Cap 4. My size large (and I could have should have gone with a medium) weighs 8.3oz which I thought was pretty nice.
The bad is that it doesn’t have thumb loops, and the hood isn’t a great fit. I bought it for running and not really backpacking, but I think it would work nicely as a backpacking baselayer, and for $15, it is hard to beat.
