As for your specific questions I'll try to answer a few keeping in mind I'm from NC and was only there as a warm-up to the TCT.
Snow: should be none – just some of the glacial snow in the crevases.
Rain: I got a lot of rain while there (the threatening skies in most of the photos says it all). I'm guessing it is much like anyplace – what you do need to be mindful of, of course, is lighting especially on the passes. I had to call my hike short on one day b/c I didn't want to cross a pass with lightning in the air and had to re-route to avoid a pass my second day for the same reason.
Bugs: nary a one – I went in late July and didn't experience any issues here.
Bears: saw no evidence of bears on the southside of the range. I bear bagged just in case. There are some folks on this board who know the area well and can probably answer much better than I.
Temps: My recollection was that it was in upper 70's during the day and low 60's at night. It was very comfortable although there was a very thick cloud cover and some wind so my experience was skewed I'm guessing.
Water: Plentiful where I was in the southern part. I only filtered from streams or run-off from on high but again, I got a lot of rain so it was easy.
Special considerations: Definitely bring the camera – beautiful. Sun protection is a must (either clothing or application of a sunscreen). Map and compass with skills to use them may be useful I think. A good map of the area. Leave an itinerary with someone back home and the contact # for the Sheriff's Office covering the range. Check in with the Rangers for the area within a week of your trip to inquire on bear activity and fires. Bear cannister or bear bag. Try to get to the TH early esp. if going to Cirque of Towers area – it can get crowded.
Enjoy the pictures – as this was a warm up for me I now want to go back and really spend some time there – one of these days…..
