I put a little DEET in an Aquamira bottle. I put the bottle in a baggie, in another baggie. One week later – goopy mess. Why? Wrong plastic? Hey but I did a search and found a post about watering down the 100% deet to get more bang for the ounce. Great idea.
For me, the greatest thing about 100% DEET is that I only need 4-6 iddy-biddy drops for my face, ears, neck, arms and legs — no more lathering lotion all over myself. A small plastic drop bottle — such as the ones sold right here on BPL can hold enough DEET for a week or more. I have read that DEET can dissolve away certain plastics/synthetics — so yes, using the wrong kind of plastic container can be detrimental.
I wouldn't buy 100% DEET just to water it down. Makes no sense to me.
