After several years of happy use, I noticed my PreCip rain jacket was "wetting-out" as they call it and becoming fairly unusable. Instead of getting a new jacket I decided to try and "bring it back".
Marmot recommends Granger's products, so per their instructions I washed the jacket in Grangers G-Wash Plus and then washed it a second time with "Wash-in Waterproofing for Synthetic Fabrics". Final step was dry on medium heat for 45 minutes.
I just tested in 15 minute moderate rain and the rain jacket was back to doing it's job very well. This was hardly a field test but the initial result was very good. Water beaded up and rolled off. No wetting out symptoms.
The only negative is that I need a new excuse to get a Gore-Tex PacLite rain jacket.
Does anyone know of a PacLite rain jacket with same features of PreCip with maybe a longer "tail" to sit on wet seat with?
