I am in receipt of the backpacking light mini drop dropper bottles (5 pack). I have noticed that the dropper tips are not color identified and as a result do not correspond to their colored caps. By having the caps and tips match colors, it helps in not misidentifying the contents of the dropper bottle. I have noticed that both the Bozeman Mountain Works micro drop plus and micro drop dropper bottles have matching cap and tip colors. I know the bottles can be identified with a permanent marker, but that can be wiped away with any alcohol based product. The colored tips work great. Why have the mini drop bottles been left out? Whats the best method not to mix up your bottles?

Since I never have more than one tip removed at a time, mixing those up isn't a problem for me.
When I first got my set of 5, I quickly found I could mix up bottles and caps, so I wrote a letter (with a fine tip Sharpie) on each of the caps to correspond to a bottle. I use them for KlearWater, Aqua Mira and Dr. Bronner's soap. Bottles are identified clearly, but caps have S (for soap), 2 marked K (KlearWater), and A & B (the two parts of Aqua Mira). To avoid confusion with the AM, I chose green and orange for their contrast in color. Green comes before orange in the dictionary, so green is "A" and orange is the "B" bottle.
This may not be the best, but it's working so far.

I only have one uncapped at a time. I agree it would be easier it they had colored tips.

Christopher:

Thanks for commenting. I guess you wouldn't have to remove more than one tip at a time. I like your method of keeping the bottle matched up to it's cap.

Michael:

My son mentioned to me that "sharpies" come in different colors. The tips could be colored to match it's top. This would also help avoid any confusion with bottles, tips and caps.

Just write on the bottle with a sharpie.

I have a bunch, all labeled. So never a problem.

When I label my bottles I use Sharpie covered with an overlapping wrap of clear packing tape. Sometimes I use icons like a bug for bug dope, a tooth for baking soda/tooth powder…

Linsey:

I like your idea about covering the bottle identification with clear packing tape. The label is than not susceptible to being wiped off with alcohol based products. Thanks.
