EMS mountainlight 20/0 f versus WM versalite

Any comments ?
Is there really no comparison between the two ?

I bought an EMS bag at a bargain price because it was a return. I think it was called the MM 20 or something like that. I can see why it was returned after using it. It was a little underfilled. I now own two Western Mountaineering bags. There is no comparison. You will never regret buying WM. The fabrics and the down they use are the best. I've looked the bags over closely and the stitching is perfect. I would say the EMS bag was useable and the WM bags are exceptional.

Thank you for your comments. I want to be sure that I really have no choice except to go for a WM bag.

the western is far, far superior. because it is such a great bag, ultimately it will also be more versatile than the other two bags, IMHO.

on whether you want two average bags or one good bag. Only you can decide for yourself, but for me the higher quality bags or quilts such as my WM Ultralite, or better yet my Nunatak quilt are worth the money spent, considering I will use them many years.

For some, they are perfectly happy with lesser quality bags such as those by EMS, Campmor, etc.

The important thing is to make sure YOU are happy with your decision. A few factors I can think of that might help:

Keep in mind that you could always use insulated clothing in the bag or an overquilt to stretch the temperature rating on the WM bag if needed, especially if you will only occasionally need a 0 degree bag.

How much storage space do you have for gear. Properly storing two bags is going to require double the space.

Are you hard on gear, or are you meticulous in caring for your gear? Someone hard on gear may not want to invest a lot in something that will get some abuse, while someone who is meticulous about care may feel buying the best is worthwhile.

Also, if you're anything like me, beware!
I've been faced with choices like that in the past. Every time i went for the cheaper option, i was never happy and ended up getting the 'quality' option later. Now i try and go for the 'quality' option 1st time.
