I have 1 weak (previously injured) ankle that rolls inward and sprains easier than it should.
I've been using NB 504 trail running shoes – with a flared heels, a plastic stabilizing "horseshoe" running between the sole and the heel of the shoe, and enough non-stretch fabric that my fore-foot doesn't slide sideways and my heel stays in the heel cup.
Do any other low-top trail running shoes or features stabilize the ankle better than these ?
Also, are there any exercises I can do to make my ankle more resistant to rolling inward ? I suspect this may be the answer, since the trail runners work fine for my other ankle – but toe raises don't seem to be strengthening my ankle, just my calves…
